Jonathan's B'day

July 27th, 2010 (last Tuesday) marked the day that Jonathan was born 24 years ago. It is also the first of either of our birthdays as a married couple and so I wanted to make it a special day. I always want birthdays to be special because the person is special, but this birthday marks the first....I'm a sucker for "firsts" so it needed to be well-celebrated!

It just so happened that his birthday fell on his day off so it was a perfect opportunity to spend the WHOLE day together! We were going to get up around nine to start our day, so I decided to surprise him by getting up extra early and making him breakfast. I made him a lovely pan of cinnamon rolls. Unfortunately, I'm still not used to our electric oven, so I burnt the bottom of the rolls, but the top part was extremely yummy and gooey (add icing to anything and it will taste good!) I woke him up with breakfast in bed and we managed to down the whole thing of cinnamon rolls! So delish!

After breakfast, we got out of bed and it was time for PRESENTS! I bought him a lovely bottle of Calvin Klein cologne called Intense Euphoria and let me tell you.....it's a good title.

After presents, we went to the shooting range. It was his idea....he's a boy and it was his birthday. What was I going to say? No? I suppose I could have but we're newlyweds and I suppose just being together is still fun. ;-)

After shooting off over 100 rounds from a gun with some numbers and letters in it's title, we went and had lunch at Panda Express (also delish!) and then went to see Salt at the movie theater. It was a good movie actually....secret Russian spy stuff.

After the movie, as if the day hadn't already been long enough, we had a lovely Italian dinner at the Mac Shack with my mom and his parents, then we were off to the Rangers game.

The Rangers were playing the Oakland A's. If you didn't catch the game, you honestly didn't miss anything. The game remained 1-1 from the bottom of the 2nd inning until the bottom of the 10th inning when Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off home run that brought in two runs. It was a very slow and boring game. Thankfully, the fact that we were in good company and having fun together made the slow and boring game more fun.

Overall the day was very good! :) I think Jonathan enjoyed his day with all the fun activities that we had planned. Needless to say, we slept very well that night!

  4. HA! You crack me up- "a gun with some numbers & letters on it" Sounds like you're about as educated as I am when it comes so weapons. Michael would be so proud of you though. ANYTIME you want to wake me up with a pan of cinnamon rolls- I'm game!

  5. I know right Chels? I never know what they're talking about when they rattle off gun names - 9 millimeter, 40 guage, something-caliber! it's confusing as heck!
